Nanami Ramen - Bendungan Hilir

6/30/2015 Soya Yanagawa 0 Comments

What is your most favorite ramen restaurant in Jakarta?

Well, actually, Nanami Ramen is one of my favorite ramen restaurant in Jakarta. I really love the calming ambiance and the warm atmosphere on this restaurant. :a

The chef on this restaurant was Akiyuki Iitaka san, a professional chef of Japanese, Italian, and French cuisine. He is also known for specialising in ramen noodles. He owns and operates many famous restaurants in Tokyo, Japan.

Akiyuki Iitaka has brought Nanami chicken based ramen concept to Indonesia. His motto is “happy customers, positive energy and create a unique and tasty ramen for everybody to enjoy”. He hopes Indonesian customers will enjoy the taste of the real chicken ramen.

Nanami Ramen located at the 1st floor of Teras Benhil. You can find it after 2 times using the escalator.

I really love the decoration. It was not much, but looks beautiful. The ceiling was decored with lantern and the seats were using a colorful cushions. The mural looks stunning and the ambiance looks stunning.

In other words, I really love this place and will be one of my favorite spot in Bendungan Hilir area. Well, Lets take a look at their dish:

Spicy Miso Ramen | IDR 40,000

Sometimes, I doubt myself for being a foodie. Is there something wrong with my palate? Because sometimes, when I find a nice place with a very nice dishes, but they have low grade on zomato. One of them even said that the noodle was tasted like instant noodle. But I actually love it, It has a firm shape, beautiful textures and and wonderful taste. It was not like an instant ramen noodle! When I asked to the waiter, they said that all of the ingredients were HOMEMADE.

Spicy Miso Ramen is my most recommended dish at Nanami Ramen. The broth has sweet indulging miso taste with a very nice kick of heat. The thickness of the broth was perfect for me.

The broth and the ramen were complemented with boiled veggie, boiled egg, chicken meat, leek and chilly. But everything on the dish were beautifully cooked and seasoned. Take a look at the boiled egg. It was cooked beautifully so it still has the moist and the juicy part of the yolk. I really love the chicken. It has a hint of garlic fragrant and calming taste.

Overall, this spicy miso ramen is a wonderful dish that you have to try at Nanami Ramen.

Chicken Karage | IDR 20,000

I always ordered some chicken karage, every time I went to this place.Well, I really love the crunchy texture on the exterior and the moist interior.

It taste nice and wonderful. Actually, I know someone that will happily order it with a bowl of rice. Can hardly wait to asked her to come to this place.

Green Tea Panna Cotta | IDR ???

Ok, First of all, I forgot the price for Nanami Ramen's panna cotta. But I rather called it as a pudding. Because the texture was way to firm and hard for panna cotta.

I do not know why this panna cotta was called as green tea panna cotta.... I cannot even taste a green tea flavor on this dish. But fortunately I really love the ogura, the red bean paste on the top of the panna cotta.

Overall, it was a nice dessert, but failed to be named as green tea panna cotta.

Actually, I really love the ramen, especially the Spicy Miso Ramen, the free refill ice tea or sweet ice tea, and I really love the friendly price because it was affordable and worth to spend. A very nice place to be enjoyed with friends or your beloved one.

Have a great day and Godspeed,

The colourful element of the Middle East will be completed with the sound of alluring Arabic instrument played throughout the evening.

- Double apple -
- Mint -
- Melon -
- Orange -
- Strawberry -
- Grape -

Shisha and shisha snack menu are available at SATOO Garden,
from 17 June to 16 July 2015 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Well, Sisha as known as hookah is a single or multi-stemmed instrument for vaporizing and smoking flavored tobacco called shisha in which the vapor or smoke is passed through a water basin-often glass-based-before inhalation.

In the Middle East and Arab world, people smoke shisha as part of their culture and traditions. Social smoking is done with a single or double hose shisha, and sometimes even triple or quadruple hose hookahs in the forms of parties or small get-togethers are used. When the smoker is finished, either the hose is placed back on the table signifying that it is available, or it is handed from one user to the next, folded back on itself so that the mouthpiece is not pointing at the recipient.

Most cafés in the Middle East offer shishas. Cafés are widespread and are amongst the chief social gathering places in the Arab world (akin to public houses in Britain).

This how Shisha works:
- 1 -
The Glass Base or the Jar at the bottom of the shisha is filled with water sufficient to submerge a few centimeters of the body tube, which is sealed tightly to it.

- 2 -
Tobacco-free molasses are placed inside the Clay Bowl at the top of the hookah.

- 3 -
The clay bowl is covered with perforated tin foil or a metal screen and coal placed on top. The foil or screen separates the coal and the tobacco, which minimizes inhalation of coal ash with the smoke and reduces the temperature the tobacco is exposed to, in order to prevent burning the tobacco directly.

- 4 -
When one inhales through the hose, air is pulled through the charcoal and into the bowl holding the tobacco. The hot air, heated by the charcoal vaporizes the tobacco without burning it. The vapor is passed down through the body tube that extends into the water in the jar. It bubbles up through the water, losing heat, and fills the top part of the jar, to which the hose is attached. When a smoker inhales from the hose, smoke passes into the lungs, and the change in pressure in the jar pulls more air through the charcoal, continuing the process.

Hygiene is the most important parts for some people. Well, not to worry, you can asked the waiter to give you athe new mouthtip for you. So you can freely enjoy your shisha with your own mouthtip that can be connected to the end of the mouthpiece.

Mezze Platter | IDR 120,000++

What is Middle East without Mezze? Well, Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta served this selection of small dishes to accompany your shisha as a snack or as appetizers before the main dish. This Pita Bread was served along with Hummus, Tabouleh, Mutabbal and Labneh.

You can insert the ingredients into the pita Bread and then eat it. Actually, I really love every component of SATOO Garden's mezze. They were seasoned beautiful and taste wonderful. I cannot stop eating the pita bread using the hummus, Tabouleh and Labneh. They were complementing each other and enrich the flavor also the textures.

Kebab Halabi Wraps | IDR 175,000++
Lamb skewer wraps with onion salad, garlic yoghurt dipping

I really fall in love with the lamb skewer wraps. It has smokey taste and fragrant that combined beautifully with the crunchiness of fresh salad. It was served with onion salad and yoghurt dipping. The sweet onion salad and the sour yoghurt dipping add some flavor to the kebab. Really love the full savory-sweet-sour combination on this plate. Salute!

Shish Taouk | IDR 160,000++
Grilled spicy chicken skewers with hummus dipping and pita bread

You can eat this Shish Taouk straight from the skewer or eat it like kebab. you can separate the chicken meat and the paprika from the skewer and put it into the pita bread along with the hummus. It taste quite delicious! the juicy chicken collaborate beautifully with the hummus. This Shish Taouk has beautiful taste and textures.

Indian Samosa* | IDR 120,000++
Deep fried vegetable samosa with mint and mango chutney

Actually for the samosa, it taste quite OK. With nice crunchy texture from the exterior and soft from the inside really give you a rich textures. But I really adore the mint chutney! It adds strong and mesmerizing sensation on your mouth. It taste so fresh and really a wonderful eye-opener. Indeed, it was a little bit to thick, but it taste delicious.

Pistachio Baklava a la Jakarta | IDR 100,000++
Layers of phyllo pastry with pistachio

This symbolic dessert from middle east is something that you mustn't ignored. It has a wonderful honey taste and sweetness along with the crunchy sweet-savory pistachio. I really love the golden brown exterior that brings contrast with the ground pistachio. A must try item on SATOO Garden!

JW Marriott,

Ramadhan at Sailendra Restaurant - JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta

6/22/2015 Soya Yanagawa 0 Comments

Discover an exciting journey of Arabic dining experience on Sailendra Restaurant at JW Merriott Jakarta. in welcoming the Ramadan, Sailendra will take you to journey of delicacies from Morocco, Turkey, Lebanon and Pakistan to break the fast.

I am very grateful that I was invited to food tasting with famous foodies like Burhan Abe, Ellyna Tjohnardi, Rian Farisa, Theresia, Yenny, AlineIcha and Aaron Handajani. That day, I was introduced with delicacies from Morocco.

Hummus | Babaganush | Fatoush | Tabuleh | Zabneh Feta
Mutabe | Imam Bayildi | and Pita Bread

I learn a lot when I went to Sailendra Restaurant that day. One of the most interesting menu is their Arabic Mezzah. Mezzah came from Meze or mezze which is a selection of small dishes served as appetizers before the main dish in the Near East and the Balkans.

Peta bread was served along the hummus, baba ganoush, fatoush, tabuleh, zabneh feta, mutabe and Imam bayildi. I asked to my friend how to eat this mezzah. He said that you just put the ingredients into the pita bread's pocket and eat it.

It has a right balance of lemon, chickpea and garlic flavors. It was creamy, smooth and has wonderful consistency.

Well, baba ganush is a Levantine dish of cooked eggplant mixed with onions, tomatoes, olive oil and various seasonings. It has a soft and moist textures. It taste mild and has smokey fragrant and taste.

Fattoush is a Levantine bread salad made from toasted or fried pieces of pita bread combined with mixed greens and other vegetables, such as lettuce, radish and tomato.

Fattoush includes vegetables and herbs according to season and taste. The vegetables are cut into relatively large pieces compared to tabbouleh which requires ingredients to be finely chopped. Staghorn sumac is usually used to give fattoush its sour taste.

Tabbouleh is a Levantine vegetarian dish (sometimes considered a salad) traditionally made of tomatoes, finely chopped parsley, mint, bulgur and onion, and seasoned with olive oil, lemon juice, and salt. Some variations add garlic or lettuce, or use couscous instead of bulgur.

Tabbouleh is traditionally served as part of a mezze in the Arab world. Variations of it are made by Turks and Armenians, and it has become a popular ethnic food in Western cultures.

Sailendra add crouton on this dish, so the textures become rich and mesmerizing.

Zabneh means strain yoghurt or yoghurt cheese. It has mild and tender textures with strong sour-savoriness. Labneh is a popular mezze dish and sandwich ingredient. With the perfect quantity of olive oil, really complement the strong savoriness from the cheese.

Similar to baba ghaoush is another Levantine dish mutabbal/mutabe, which also includes mashed cooked aubergines and tahini, and mixed with salt, pepper, olive oil, and anar seeds. Mutabbal is sometimes said to be a spicier version of baba ghanoush.

For the Fritters, Sailendra served us with Falafel, cheese samosa and Beef samosa.

Falafel is a deep-fried ball or patty made from ground chickpeas, fava beans, or both. I really love the textures. It has a wonderful crunchy textures and fragrant.

A samosa is a fried or baked pastry with savory filling. Indeed, the samosas were quite small and can easily eat in one bite. but do not underestimate this fritters. It has wonderful crunchy textures from the exterior and indulging savory with moist texture on the inside.

Sorbat addas or Lentil soup refers to a variety of vegetarian and meat soups made with lentils. It has a a thick grainy textures with an indulging savory-sweetness. To add croutons on the dish, could be genius.. coz it enrich the textures.

Actually, it almost reminds me to meatballs Bolognese sauce. It has a wonderful taste of tomato paste, and beautiful fragrant from the herbs. The lemon adds some acidity on the dish with an indulging aftertaste from the olives.

This Chicken Tangine was enriched with olive fragrant and lemony tangy taste. It produce a wonderful sensation on my palate. The broth really warm and indulging. hint of turmeric, and cumin really cleans your mouth from heavy and oily dish. This Chicken Tagine is one of my favorite.

The fishy smell from the snapper was neutralized with the sourness of the tomato. It taste really refreshing and delish. The herbs adds some fragrant on the dish. But If they have bolder taste, might become one of my favorite dish.

This is my most favorite dish that night! The tender and juicy chicken wings were complemented with an outstanding fragrant from the coriander. Such an eye-opener dish that really indulge your tastebuds. The sour and savory flavor really fit to my palate. One piece will never be enough...

This beef kota and chicken has a great textures. It has a wonderful crispy consistency and savory taste. For me, this beef kota was a little bit too dry. If it has a moist or juicy interior, it could be more delicious.

This lamb shank is the star of the night. the meat was easily separated from the bones. It has an outstanding tenderness and juiciness. But maybe, the spiciness was suited to Sailendra Restaurant's customers. Because for me, the herbs and spiciness can be bolder. But overall, this lamb shank was my second favorite dish at Sailendra.

Couscous is derived from the Berber seksu or kesksu, meaning "well rolled", "well formed", or "rounded". It is a traditional Berber dish of semolin which is traditionally served with a meat or vegetable stew spooned over it.

OK, to tell you the truth, Cous Cous is not my most favorite dish. It was dry and a little bland for my palate. Maybe because I rather choose the lamb shank or the chicken wings haha...

This eggplant and tomatoes actually my less favorite dish tonight. I do really love eggplant, but I am struggling to taste the spices and taste. All I can taste was a mushy eggplant and crunchy almond.

Maqluba is a traditional dish of Jordan and Palestine. The dish includes meat, rice, and fried vegetables placed in a pot, which is then flipped upside down when served , hence the name maqluba, which translates literally as "upside-down".

It has a wonderful and strong fragrant. I really love the turmeric scent and sweet raisins that combined beautifully and complementing each uther. The almond and cashew enrich the makloube. Such as a mesmerizing dish at Sailendra.

This Egyptian dessert has an unique textures and taste. The texture was soft and fluffy, but not velvety. It has a lumpy texture not grainy. Really admire the coconut taste on this dish. complemented with the sweet pistachio.

Legend has it that Om Ali was the first wife of the sultan Ezz El Din Aybek. When the sultan died, his second wife had a dispute with Om Ali, resulting in the second wife's death. To celebrate, Om Ali made this dessert and distributed it among the people of the land.

For a baklava, Sailendra's Baklava was a little bit to pale. But it taste marvelous. Indeed, Baklava usually taste extremely sweet like me, but this baklava has a decent sweetness that makes me want to eat and eat it again.

Qatayef is an Levantine dessert commonly served during the month of Ramadan, a sort of sweet dumpling filled with cream or nuts. I have learned that desserts from middle east has a very sweet taste. Just like this Katayef from Sailendra. But still, it taste too sweet for me.

Break your last week of fasting with delicacies from Middle East at Sailendra Restaurant during Holy Ramadan month.

Talaga Sampireun,

[DIARY] One Day Shooting with Foodies Fellow & Toyota AGYA - My Agya My Style

6/22/2015 Soya Yanagawa 5 Comments

My heart soar like an eagle when I have found out that I am one of the 2 weekly winner from My Agya My Style Blogging Contest. That Indonesian Food Blogger  and Toyota Agya held.

Well, I was asked to spend one day with the Toyota's crew to have a one day shooting for Toyota's documentation that will be published on youtube.

Without any further, here is my story:

Exactly 09.00 am the Toyota crews picked me up at my boarding house at Kemang. After the introduction, they give me a key so I can drive Agya for this whole day.

What makes me really love this Toyota Agya is the size! Indeed it looks small from the outside, but actually they have an ample cabin. for a 180 cm high guy like me, I can fit into the car! and I am not feeling that I am in a confined place. Here is a brief about Agya.

The Toyota Agya is a city car by Toyota, designed by Daihatsu and manufactured by Astra Daihatsu in Indonesia.  The name "Agya" was taken from the Sanskrit word meaning "fast"
The car was announced and showed at the 2012 Indonesia International Motor Show as Toyota and Daihatsu's answer to the Indonesia government's plan for the LCGC. Initially the car was available for advance booking after the show but it only lasted for few weeks because the manufacturers were waiting for the government to finalize regulation regarding the LCGC. The Agya use 1.0 liter 1KR-DE three-cylinder engine in Indonesia.
After a year since it was announced, Agya was officially launched and sold to general public on the second week of September 2013.

After they give me the key, they start to shot some picture while I am driving. Well, the venue was around Kemang and Prapanca. Kind a weird though that I have to act normal while there is a person holding a camera beside me.

Next thing that I have to do is posing right beside the car and walk to the driving seat. OK, this scene was attract too much attention. Back then, I do not care about my sexy curve of fat.. I just hope that I can finish this scene as fast as I can.

OK, next scene is I have to drive this Agya alone on an empty street. Well, that was easy... because I am sure that my face is not taken. Haha... After that, they took a scene from the front while I am driving. They put a Go Pro on the back of the other car, and I have to follow that car.

After that, we went to Jani's house in Radio Dalam area. We went there and pick Jani up. But before we went to Lia's House, there is a must scene there. The shoot was about I pick Jani up at her house, when she is doing her Yoga. Just kidding..... She just reading a book... such an uninteresting activity, right?...... sigh... It could be more fun if she pose a toe stand or standing bow pose..

Twitter: @anjanidisti
Instagram: @Anjanidisti

Well, after some shoot, we went to Lia's house at Kelapa Gading.

Again.... my bright and wonderful idea was rejected by them.. I pick Lia up while she is playing with her gadget.... So lame right?? If I picked her up while she is doing a pirouette or arabesque... it will be a legendwhywaitforitdary!

One thing for sure, her mom is very kind and awesome! She gave us a snacks that she made by herself. Too bad i didn't take a picture... It taste delicious though.

Twitter: @ratnaaulia
Instagram: @ratnaauliah

Oh, we also took a scene on the living room! I pretend that I am in my living room and get ready to pick up the girls. Well, after that.... we went back to Kemang.

YUP! We went back to Kemang! It is already noon, and the traffic was stressful. Luckily Agya has small body, so we don't have any difficulty overtake other cars.... Hehe.... That time, Lia and Jani were very noisy. They said that they are very hungry.... It reminds me to the huge baggage that Agya had. I really want to put them on the baggage to shut their mouth... Haha....

Finally, we arrived at The Cat Cabin. The Cat Cabin was located at the 2nd Floor of a building on Jl. Kemang Raya No. 31. Actually, it was located across the Takigawa restaurant. You have top go up with the stairs, they do not have an elevator.. So, Prepare yourself and do not use any high heels.

We went there on the weekend, so there is a sure charge to get in. The rate is IDR 50,000/person/hour and add IDR. 30,000 for the next 1 hour.  For kids, you can only pay IDR 35,000 and IDR 20,000 for next hours.

The place was actually not really spacious, but beautifully decorated. There were cute trinkets on the shelves and everything was related to cats. Oh, there was a huge cats playground in the center of the room, for cats playing around there.

There are only a few cats, and they all were sleeping around that room. For me, the quantity of the cat is not much. Indeed, they were adorable.. But still I can only see less than 10 cats there.

Salmon Miso Don | IDR 60,000

OK, actually, the portion was ridiculously small, and overpriced. It taste so flat and flavorless.

Actually, Salmon Miso Don from The Cat Cabin is a Salmon Rice Bowl with Miso Glaze. Kind a weird, because miso has a strong and thick savory-sweetness from a soy bean. But I can barely taste the miso paste on this dish. The salmon has already lost its freshness it was served not very hot..

The only thing that really taste good is the broccoli. The rest of it was really disaster.

Gyutan Don | IDR 70,000

Beef Tongue Rice Bowl was served with their special sauce. From the 3 menu that we have tried, this Gyutan Don is the only thing that has a flavor on it.

But it taste was not really satisfying. It only has the savory taste from the sauce, and the tongue can be more tender than this. But the most dissapointing thing is, the not-too-hot gyutan don become cold because we poured the sauce into the container.  What is donburi, if it was served cold?

Chicken & Garlic Yakimeshi Don | IDR 45,000

Kind a funny... Actually, we went here with an empty stomach. But even that we are on our starving conditions, we can not enjoy the dish. It was tasteless and cold. IDR 45,000 for this small portion and tasteless fried rice, obviously not worth it.

It was lack of seasoning and really unappetizing.

Kitty Punch | IDR 25,000

Kitty punch is a mixture between Orange Juice and milk. Actually, the mixtures looks weird and very unattractive. It looks like there is a sediment on the beverages. It taste weird too. Especially they didn't add some ice to it. Actually, this is the weirdest beverages I have ever tried.

They put the drink on an asymmetrical glass with a cute lid. But to tell you the truth, decoration is not really important if the drink has an unappetizing looks and taste. Such a failure and expensive drink for me.

My experience to The Cat Cabin was actually a very disappointing experience. The Cat Cabin is not the place for foodies who want to find a delicious and jaw-dropping dish. But for a cat lover, The Cat Cabin is a great place for you to play with cute and adorable cats.

Jl. Kemang Raya No. 31, 2nd Fl.
Kemang, Jakarta

Next destination is Ancol. We use Jakarta Outer Ring Road to Ancol. Yup, it is a long way to go. But surprisingly, this cute city car has an awesome power. It can go fast without any problem. Maybe it was because the TRD-S.

Did you know that TRD is an acronym from Toyota Racing Development? It is the in-house tuning shop for all Toyota, Lexus, and Scion cars. TRD is responsible both for improving street cars for more performance and supporting Toyota's racing interests around the world. TRD produces various tuning products and accessories, including performance suspension components, superchargers, and wheels. TRD parts are available through Toyota dealers, and are also available as accessories on brand-new Toyotas and Scions.

Because of that, we arrived at Ancol less than an hour with still an empty stomach (considered our breakfast/lunch is just a cup of rice)

After some briefings, we start shooting for documentary. First thing to do was the three of us are driving happily and lively around Ancol.

Actually, I have a sin to commit.... While we were given the opportunity to drive Agya around Ancol all by ourself, we parked the Agya and took pictures a lot with it...... But Karma came very fast. we have got lost in Ancol area.... sighh... That is why we asked them to send us their location, so we can go back and reunite with them.

Next shoot is using drone. Cool right? Yup.... this aerial shoot looks cool and awesome. Such a wonderful moment to share.

Last shoot before dinner was we went to the beach and start walking. I am amazed with the beautiful scenery and breathtaking panorama.

We went to Talaga Sampireun to have our dinner. If you don't know where it is, you better asked to the security on Ancol Area. Coz this Telaga Sampireun's location is a little bit tricky (We've got lost to go there)

This restaurant looks very stunning and beautiful.

Derived  from Sundanese language, Talaga Sampireun means a stop at the edge of the lake. A cozy place with an unique architecture, where you can hear the serenity of whispering wind and the splashing water.

Talaga Sampireun serves an authentic Sundanese traditional menu with the freshest and natural ingredients.

With a wonderful view, fast and great hospitality, and awesome food, Talaga Sampireun is the best place to end the exhausting day!

I would like to say sorry because I didn't write the name of the dishes and the prices. But Actually, Talaga Sampireun is a Sundanese restaurant with a jawbreaking ambiance. To be noted, Sundanese food was known for its spiciness, and Telaga Sampireun is the best place to dine with friends, colleagues and of course with your family.

Too bad that the three of us has already got a gastric problems, so we cannot really enjoy the dishes. It was a very tiresome day and consider we only eat a bowl of rice at 03.00 pm, our stomach cannot really handle a heavy and spicy food.

Will come back soon with a healthy stomach!

After a tiresome day, finally we went back to our home. So, to be acknowledge, our rute starts from Kemang (my place) - Radio Dalam (Jani's Place) - Kelapa Gading (Lia's Place) -  Kemang (The Cat's Cabin) - Ancol - Kelapa Gading (Lia's Place) - Kemang (Soya's Place) - Radio Dalam (Jani's Place).

OK, Last, I barely post a picture of myself.... But this is our tired faces and exhausted looks.... Haha... Well, indeed it was such a tiring day. But I cannot imagine if Jani and Lia weren't there... Because of them, this tiring experience become a wonderful and mesmerizing day.

Click the doodles to go to their experience!

Last but not least, I would like to say thank you to:

Without them, this event will never exist.

have a great day and Godspeed!
