Located on the 5th Floor Plaza Indonesia, Elicxir Artisan Gelato brings the coolest thing to produce gelatos. Yup, they use Liquid Nitrogen! So your gelato will be freshly made once you order it.

You only have 3 months left to visit their outlet on Plaza Indonesia. But do not be afraid, because they will spread their wings on other locations.

you will be amazed and hypnotized with Elicxir Artisan Gelato's atmosphere. You can feel the alchemist vibe once you put your feet into this place. I really love their mural, all of their mural was hand drawn! Once I know that Elicxir Artisan Gelato will be moved into somewhere else, I immediately asked Jenifer about their mural. Because it was so cute and beautiful.  But Jenifer told me that it can easily removed to the new place. Well, I feel relieved. 

What makes Elicxir Artisan Gelato is different with the others? Just like what i have said above, your gelato will be freshly made once you order it. Yup, Elicxir Artisan Gelato use Liquid Nitrogen to make your gelato.

Liquid Nitrogen can dropped the temperature into -197° C. That is why it can instantly freeze everything it touch! One thing for sure, it makes the gelato become silky smooth. Liquid nitrogen wont make water crystals got the opportunity to exist. So you will taste the smoothest gelato you've ever taste! But you have to eat it directly. Cos, without water crystals, the gelato was easily melt.

From Ambon to Netherlands

From Ambon to Netherlands is a mixture gelato from Ambon's banana and Hollands' ginger bread. I never thought that banana and gingerbread can be a very great couple to be paired. Both of them compliments each other, so it will make a beautiful harmony on your mouth. Garnished with cinnamon cookie will add more diverse texture on this gelato. This "From Ambon to Netherlands"gelato is the perfect choice for those who love banana / gingerbread / cinnamon cookie.

Everything About Marie

My heart fell for this gelato. I really admire how Elicxir Artisan Gelato has an idea to make a Marie Regal gelato. It taste so unique yet mesmerizing. Garnished with whole marie regal cookie, compliments the gelato with great textures.

I really like this gelato because its sweetness is fit with my taste. The sweetness is not overpowering the gelato, in fact it has a perfect sweetness. I told Jenifer that this "Everything About Marie" is so nostalgic. I really admire their creativities!

Toast My Jam (Only Available until 14 March 2014) IDR 45.000

I asked Jenifer how to make this french toast gelato. Jenifer told me that they add real toast into the mixture. That is why you still can taste the hint of toast on this gelato.

The most unique thing on this gelato is they put same injection filled with Elicxir Artisan Gelato's house blend kaya jam. It taste so unique, you can enjoy the kaya toast sensation with different texture and temperature.

Love on Top  (Only Available until 14 March 2014) IDR 60.000

Valentine has past, but it will never be too late to spread some love right? This "Love on Top" might be the most chick and beautiful Elicxir gelato's presentation. They infuse this gelato with Red Rum and Strawberry Milk, topped with cream cheese foam, love shaped red velvet cookie and crumbs added some unique texture on this gelato.

It taste as sweet as it looks. The texture is so diverse, you can taste the silky gelato, smooth cream cheese and crunchy cookie on this dish. For those who love to eat something cute and sweet, this might be the perfect choice for you.

Eclairs & Choux

Sneak peek for Elicxir Artisan Gelato upcoming menu is their Eclairs and Choux. They served us with 2 different filling, the first and second picture was eclairs and choux with Milo Dinosaur gelato, and the third picture was with banana nutella gelato.

I really like the crunchy texture and the caramelized exterior on the top. It has some really deicious sweetness and textures. Combined with their gelato makes the eclairs and the choux are something that you cannot resist.

For an ice cream freak like me, I was really indulged by their beautiful treats. I feel so blessed when I taste the smoothest and delicious gelato that Elicxir Artisan Gelato served. I will come back to this place for sure!

Shang Palace,

Shang Palace - Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta II

Do you remember the fish? Yup, it was the arowana fish that you can find in Shang Palace, Shangri - La Hotel Jakarta. You can see it on my previous review for Shang Palace HERE.

Located on the Ground Floor Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta, Shang Palace will amazed you with their Asian delicacies. For your information, starting from January 2014, Shang Palace served an all you can eat buffet. You will be indulged with their wonderfully cooked and assorted Asian treats.

You can immediately feel Shang Palace's oriental sumptuous atmosphere once you step your foot into this place. Red and yellow decorated this lavish place, beautiful trinkets and outstanding chandeliers were put to upraise the level of luxuriousness.

I went to Shang Palace on 8 February 2014 with Selba and Yenny. Accompanied with Joris Satyadharma as Digital Marketing Manager of Shangri-La Hotels and Felicia Setiawan, Director of Communications Shangri-La Hotel makes our brunch at Shang Palace merrier. I feel so blessed that I have got the opportunity 

Because it was still on Chinese New Year spirit, Shang Palace decorate their environment with angpaos, chinese coins and lanterns. It makes the oriental image become denser and more attached on the atmosphere.

You can order Shang Palace's all you can eat dim sum from your table on weekdays, but on weekends, Shang Palace displayed their assorted Asian delights on self service buffets that divided into several criteria like appetizers, steamed dim sums, fried dim sums, chang fens and desserts. 

Well, here it is:

- Appetizer -

Mix Fruit Salad 
Marinated Baby Octopus with Spicy Sauce
Chilled Slice Beef Shank
Crispy Fried Eel with Salt & Pepper

On the appetizer area, you can find Mix Fruit Salad, Marinated Baby Octopus with Spicy Sauce, Chilled Slice Beef Shank, and Crispy Fried Eel with Salt & Pepper. To be honest, you should not miss the marinated baby octopus with spicy sauce. Its taste really delicious with a hint of freshness that you cannot forget and the unique textures that you will scream for more.

You also have to try their chilled slice beef shank. I really love its fragrance, collaborate with its smooth texture and beautiful taste, makes this appetizer is also one that you cannot miss.

- Congee -

Fresh Grouper Fillet Congee
Century Egg and Shredded Chicken Congee

One thing for sure, Shang Palace's century egg and shredded chicken congee is the one that you have to put it on your "must try" item. For your information, Congee or conjee is a type of rice porridge or gruel popular in many Asian countries. When eaten as plain rice congee, it is most often served with side dishes. When additional ingredients, such as meat, fish, and flavorings, are added while preparing the congee, it is most often served as a meal on its own, especially when one is ill. Names for congee are as varied as the style of its preparation. Despite its many variations, it is definitionally a thick porridge of rice largely disintegrated after prolonged cooking in water. 

I really like the congee, so thick and delicious. Sweet, bitter, sour and savory combined perfectly so it will brings a beautiful symphony in your mouth.

- Pan-Fried Selection -

Pan Fried Cantonese Turnip Cake with Chicken Floss
Deep Fried Yam Dumpling Filled with Pork and Seafood
Fried Tofu Pocket with Prawn and Sichuan Chili
Crispy Wonton Dumplings
Deep Fried Crab Stick with Prawn Fritters
Deep Fried Glutinous Skin Puffs with Assorted Seafood and Spices

On pan fried selection, the most delicious dish was Deep Fried Crab Stick with Prawn Fritters. Actually, Fritter is a name applied to a wide variety of fried foods, usually consisting of a portion of batter or breading which has been filled with bits of meat, seafood, fruit, or other ingredients. I really like its textures, crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. Sweet and savory perfectly combined and compliments each other. I cannot stop eating this dish, so delish!

- Chang Fen -
(Rice Flour Roll)

Minced Beef Chang Fen
Steamed Barbecued Pork Rolls
Steamed Prawn Rolls with Bitter Gourd

My heart fell with Shang Palace's Chang Fen selection. I really like the steamed barbecued pork rolls and the steamed prawn rolls. It has a very delicate texture and moist stuffing. The sweetness from the meat collaborate beautifully with the savory sauce and mild chang fen. Yup, I have noticed the thickness from the chang fen is not consistent. But I still love it and now I am craving for this thing.

- Steamed Selection -

Crystal Prawn Dumpling
Chicken Siu Mai Topped with Tobiko
Steamed Chicken Feet with Black Pepper Sauce
Steamed Pork Rib with preserved Vegetable
Steam Beef Ball with Bean Curd Skin

On the steamed selection of Shang Palace's buffet, the star of this selection was steamed pork rib with preserved vegetables. This dish has to be eaten while hot, that is why on the steamed selection, Shang Palace put a steamer.

The Pork Rib is so soft and moist, It might a little bit too greasy for  some people, but actually the greasiness is the thing that makes this dish so unique and delicious. But please be noted, this pork rib must be eaten as soon as possible, it is because the best timing to eat it when it still hot.

- Desserts -

Red Bean Cream with Dumplings
Sesame Balls
Oven baked Mini Egg Tarts
Chilled Mango Pudding
Chinese Red Bean Pancake
Ice Cream

Chilled Mango Pudding is one of Shang Palace's dessert that you have to try. You will taste the silky smooth texture and the mesmerizing taste. You also have to try their egg tarts. Indeed, my friend told me that their egg tart base is kind a hard, but luckily mine was good. The base is not that hard, in fact, it was perfect. the sweetness is also fit with my taste, it is not overpowering the egg tart. But the most fun part is, you can eat it with a scoop of Shangri-La homemade ice cream.

My dining experience in Shang Palace is quite fun and memorable. Me and my friends can have a feast accompanied with Felicia and Joris. I feel so blessed that I have got that kind of experience.

Kitchenette - Senayan City

I always admire how Ismaya Group packaged their F&B outlet. Their concept and attention to details really makes my jaw drop.

Let us take a look at their Kitchenette Restaurant & Crêperie at Senayan City. Kitchenette's concept is to create a social space, in form of a restaurant/café that portrays the experience of dining inside a kitchen of a friend whose family members love to cook.

That is why I am not going to waste this opportunity to take pictures as much as I want, when I got there.

I really Love how they presented a kitchen atmosphere into their dining area. Their ample space is full of kitchen cabinet, kitchen equipments, and kitchen accessories, integrated with a bit of ‘structured messiness’. The space is also cozy, ‘homey’, and casual. It portrays the friendly atmosphere that you feel when entering a friend’s house/kitchen. This concept works throughout the day - from brunch and all throughout lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, to late night social drinks.

With wooden panel and antique tile, Kitchenette successfully bring the cozy and homey atmosphere. 

Kitchenette Restaurant & Crêperie were divided into 2 areas. For smoker customers you can sit on the outdoor area. Do not be afraid with the heat from the outside, Kitchenette provide a several ceiling fans so you still can feel a breeze and will not make you dehydrated.

I can imagine sitting there with my friends, eating our dinner, have a great moment chatting, while enjoying easy listening music from Kitchenette's audio.

Just like I said above, Ismaya Group is a very detail oriented! You can see how they decorate their outlet. Every space, every corner and every shelf, they have put a lot of interesting trinkets. Kitchenette successfully portrays the friendly atmosphere that you feel when entering a friend’s house/kitchen.

Kitchenette serves a diverse kind of dish. You can find Italian pastas, Spanish tapas, Japanese teriyaki, Indonesian Nasi goreng and many others. The most important thing on Kitchenette's dish is all of the dish that they served was handcrafted with organic buckwheat flour, natural ingredients and a dash of love. They also proudly use organic omega-3 eggs.

On this occasion, I just want to inform you about their upcoming new menus.

Baja Fried Fish Tacos  IDR 75,000
Baja Fried Fish Tacos with Avocado & Homemade Salsa

The prototypical fish taco originated in Baja California, Mexico, and the preparation referred to in this country as “Baja-style” is similar to what you might find on the Mexican peninsula. It usually involves deep-fried white-fleshed fish, shredded cabbage, and a creamy white sauce.

This colorful dish is screamed for its freshness. I really like its textures, so rich and diverse. The crunchiness from the fish and fresh vegetables was combined perfectly with Kitchenette's homemade salsa and avocado.

Chicken Dobladitas IDR 69,000
Shredded chicken flour tortillas with green chili sauce

The next dish on the appetizer list is Chicken Dobladitas. Two-folded tortilla with shredded chicken inside, accompanied with mayo and green chili sauce makes this chicken dobladitas is something that you cannot resist. This cute appetizer from Kitchenette is so rich with texture and flavor. I really love the chicken, so tender and juicy! With beautiful presentation and a flavor that fit with our tongue, Kitchenette is successfully bring this Mexican dish into restaurant quality.

Southern Fried Chicken & Waffles with Chilli Butter & Maple Syrup IDR 89,000

When I look at this dish for the first time, one thing that pops into my head was to taste this food as soon as possible. I really admire Kitchenette's braveness to exchange the carbohydrates with waffles.

The presentation of this dish is quite unique and deceiving. The ice-cream-look-a-like at the top of this dish actually was a chilly butter. The southern fried chicken was put between the waffles and served with BBQ sauce and maple syrup.

Actually I am not the biggest fan of this dish. I just thought that the sweetness from the maple syrup is overpowering the dish. I rather choose to taste the BBQ sauce a little bit stronger than the maple syrup.

The chicken was battered and then deep-fried, the battering adds a crisp coating or crust to the exterior. I do really like the crisp and the crunchiness, but for a dark brownish coating chicken, the taste was a little bit too modest.

Grandma's Chicken Casserole with Creamy White Wine Sauce IDR 110,000

The next dish on the main menu list is Grandma's Chicken Casserole with Creamy White Wine Sauce. A casserole, from the French word for "saucepan", is a large, deep dish used both in the oven and as a serving vessel; The word is also used for the food cooked and served in such a vessel, with the cookware itself called a casserole dish or casserole pan.

The unique thing from this dish is they deep fried the chicken. So it gives a wonderful crisp and crust.

I do really like this dish, so creamy and delish. Love the richness of the textures from the chicken, carrot and zucchini. The savory creamy sauce taste so delicious, but I am struggling to find the white wine's taste.

Rocky Road “Flourless” Cake IDR 49,000

Why "Flourless"? A flourless cake is a type of cake made from aerated chocolate custard, flourless chocolate cake is also popular for gluten-free diets. Rocky Road is a type of dessert made up of milk chocolate and marshmallow, which is usually served in individual portions.

Kitchenette's rocky road was accompanied with vanilla ice cream and chocolate paste and caramel. Because this dessert doesn't use any flour, the texture is quite dense but moist and gooey. It taste marvelous when you eat it with the vanilla ice cream.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Lava Cake 69k

Chocolate lava cake is a popular dessert that combines the elements of a flourless chocolate cake and a soufflé. On this cake, you can find the melting chocolate inside the firm cake's exterior.

Kitchenette's chocolate peanut butter lava cake was served on a cup and accompanied with a vanilla ice cream. I don't know, but I don't really like its textures. It taste good, but the texture is too liquid.


Rustic Chocolate Strawberry Cake IDR 59,000

For a slice of rustic chocolate strawberry cake, you will be indulged by its sweet and refreshing taste. Indeed, the chocolate cake was a little bit dry. But the strawberry cream makes it perfect. The combination between chocolate bitterness and strawberry sweetness, the sponge cake dryness and creamy moist is something that worth to try.

Homemade Italian Profiteroles IDR 49,000

A profiterole or choux à la crème is a French dessert choux pastry ball filled with whipped cream, pastry cream, or ice cream. This is my most favorite dessert on Kitchenette. i really love the perfection that you can find on its textures and flavor. The sweetness is not overwhelming. Completed with the whipped cream, chocolate paste, caramel and choco powder, makes this dessert is something that you cannot ignore.

Chocolate Brownie IDR 45,000

I often to tell my friend that I don't like chocolate, I LOVE chocolate! I am so enthusiast to try this beverage. Actually, I do really like the chocolate taste and the dense texture from this beverage. But I have noticed that there is a weird aftertaste after I drink it. But eventually the weird aftertaste gradually decreased. So After a while, the weird aftertaste is already gone.

Strawberry Gingerbread 45,000

For strawberry lovers, you have to try this beverage. Kitchenette combined strawberry and gingerbread with perfection. It is not just the beautiful looks, but it has a warming and indulging aftertaste from the gingerbread.

Orange Creamsicle IDR 45,000

This one is my most favorite beverage that Kitchenette serves. The strong taste from the orange combined perfectly with the milk cream. The taste somehow is refreshing and delicious. Really adore this beverage.

Red Velvet IDR 45,000

For the last beverage, Kitchenette serves us with their Red Velvet. This sweet red velvet beverage has an unique flavor, there was a hint of savory, bitter and sourness. Topped with whipped cream and sprinkled with grated cheese, for you who have a red velvet addicted, this beverage is a must try!

The Maid’s Nasi Goreng with Spicy Seafood, Fried Egg and Chicken Satay IDR 85,000

This The Maid’s Nasi Goreng with Spicy Seafood, Fried Egg and Chicken Satay was ordered by one of the food blogger. Even though Kitchenette put "spicy" on its name, but for you who doesn't like spicy food, you can ask them not to give chili or something spicy.

Actually it is quite good! The nasi goreng was seasoned well and the satay is incredible. Too bad the portion is quite disappointing. Oh, They also serve it with fresh vegetables.

Charcoal Grilled Marinated Octopus with Spanish Paprika Potatoes IDR 90,000

Last but not least is Charcoal Grilled Marinated Octopus with Spanish Paprika Potatoes. You can smell the charcoal scent from this octopus. I really like the tender of the octopus that Kitchenette serves. It is really hard to cook the octopus, but Kitchenette has done it perfectly.

My fellow food-blogger told me that it was bland and tasteless, but what do you expect from octopus meat? I actually kinda love it. It taste perfectly complementing the octopus. They completely shows that the octopus indeed the champion on this dish.
