B.A.T.S. - Shangri La Hotel Jakarta

You might already know about B.A.T.S. at Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta. It is one of the best nightlifes and the most happening places in Jakarta. To tell you the truth, B.A.T.S. is my favorite place to have a drink while listening to the beat from their international live band. But actually, B.A.T.S. is not just a place to have a wonderful nightlife experience in Jakarta, they were known as a restaurant that serves oversized portions of Western food. 






Bars At The Shangri-La, which is as known as B.A.T.S. will bring you to the underground New York atmosphere. With their exposed brick and wood paneling, you can feel that you came to a different place and atmosphere. This is the place where you can enjoy yourself without disturbance from the outside.

The most interesting part is, you can find a funny and creative mural along the walls at the lounge area. B.A.T.S. drew a caricature from their loyal customers; I am amazed with the detailed and beautiful drawing. 




Recently, B.A.T.S. renewing and improving their western menu. You can see their complete menu above. As you can see, B.A.T.S. serve you with a western theme food, from appetizers through dessert. So you can indulge yourself in an extensive range of premium quality steaks, ranging from the 900-gram Stockyard Cowboy Steak and US Porterhouse to selections of 300-day grain-fed Australian beef.




Beer Tower (BINTANG 3 Lt) IDR 250,000

B.A.T.S. always know how to treat their customer. With 3 liter of beer, you will be indulge with huge amount of thirst quenching pleasure. B.A.T.S. knew that the best thing to enjoy the togetherness is to share. That is why this beer tower is very suitable to make your moment merrier.  





BBQ Chicken Wings IDR 95,000

I do admit, it was really easy to find chicken wing nowadays in any restaurant, but it is really hard to find the delicious one. B.A.T.S.'s BBQ Chicken Wing is really delicious. I really like the sweet-savory BBQ sauce that they served. This finger bites food is really makes you scream for more.





Healthy House Salad IDR 95,000

The crunchiness of the vegetables is one of the clue that this house salad was made from fresh ingredients. You can find lettuce leaves, tomatoes, cucumbers, artichoke, red beans, avocado, feta cheese, croutons and eggs with lemon vinaigrette dressing. I really like the fresh sourness from the lemon vinaigrette dressing. 





Mushroom Cream Soup IDR 80,000

Served with some crispy dry butter bread on the side, makes this mushroom soup looks so undeniable attractive. I really like their thick texture from the cream soup and their wonderful taste. Once again, it was really easy to find this kind of appetizer in any restaurant, but it is hard to find the delicious one. Well, at least now I know where can i found the tasty one.  





Braised Lamb Shank IDR 240,000
With creamy herb polenta, pickled lemon and fried onion rings

Lamb is my second most favorite meat to eat (nothing can beat the pork). This braised lamb shank from B.A.T.S. is really tender and juicy. The most hardest thing to prepare lamb shank is how to get rid the odor. B.A.T.S. successfully served this dish without that smelly thing. I really like their seasoning; it was well absorbed unto the innermost. It was moist, juicy and delicious.

This braised lamb shank was accompanied with creamy polenta that compliments the dish.

On B.A.T.S. chargrill, they served beef, lamb chops, salmon and chicken. On their beef section, they served U.S. Chilled Prime Beef, Australian Grain Fed Beef - 300 Days; Ranger Valley, and Australian Wagyu Beef - Grade 9. Yup.... what a beautiful collection. 

But the most interesting part is their Australian Grain Fed Beef - 300 Days; Rangers Valley. Their black Angus steers was fed only with grains, 300 days before the slaughter. Raised without hormones injection and minimum stress, makes the marble score is 3 - 4. That is why this Australian Grain Fed Beef - 300 days; Rangers Valley was so tender and juicy.

Every steak was completed with sautéed mushrooms, vine tomatoes, roasted corns and onion rings on the side. You also can choose B.A.T.S. homemade dressing that fit with your taste.



Striploin - Ranger Valley 280 gr / 10 oz IDR 490k




Rib Eye - Ranger Valley 340 gr / 12 oz IDR 495k




Tenderloin - Ranger Valley 280 gr / 10 oz IDR 475k

Well, all of them were perfectly cooked and so juicy. It was all depends on what cut do you like the most. For me, I really like the tenderloin. This cut was really thick, juicy and tender.





Surf and Turf IDR 660,000
½ grilled Canadian Lobster and 220 gr U.S. beef tenderloin, corn on the cobb, vine tomatoes and porobello mushroom

This land and sea combination was really blow up my mind. The thick and juicy tenderloin combined with the moist and fluffy lobster will not make your mouth to stop drooling. Because the lobster, I really recommend you to combined it with their Lemon Butter dressing. It will compliment the dish to the fullest.






Baked Chocolate Brownies IDR 50,000

This baked chocolate brownies is really pampering you to the fullest. I really like the bitterness from the chocolate, combined with their vanilla sauce. The richness of their texture and the wonderful taste and the beautiful presentation makes this baked chocolate brownies B.A.T.S.'s bestseller dessert and really recommended for those who love chocolate.



Decadent Chocolate Mousse IDR 50,000

I never thought that chocolate mousse will be presented without a vessel or something like glass or a cup. This beautiful presentation from B.A.T.S. is really breathtaking, just like the taste and textures. another alternative selection for you who loves chocolate.





Accompanied with a local band whom sing beautifully makes my dinnertime with my friends feel so special. I am so blessed and grateful been invited by Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta for their media tasting. I went home with full stomach and sleep happily that day. What a wonderful experience!

Have you ever heard about Huize van Wely? For your information,  Huize van Wely is the most famous patisserie from Dutch that offers hand-made chocolates, bonbons, truffles, pastries, cakes, sweet and savoury biscuits and ice cream. They have opened their stores on Jl. Kemang Raya and Pacific Place.

I am so grateful that I finally be able to visit their outlet on Jl Kemang Raya.

Located on the 1st Floor of a sophisticated yet elegant stand alone building named The Papilion, Huize van Wely introduce us a bistro style eatery that offers all-time favorite local delights, traditional Japanese cuisine and scrumptious western fare. Every Wednesday, Huize van Wely serve a buffet lunch with different theme every week. They rotate the Indonesian, Western and Japanese theme buffet every week.








The Papilon building itself, designed by local architect Gregorius Yolodi from Design Associates Architect, the iconic glass structure, set against the quaint setting of Kemang continues to charm globe-trotting fashionable trend setters, epicureans and creative tastemakers with its spontaneous, unique and entertaining mix of influences and inspirations from around the World

When I set my foot into this gorgeous building, I am so amazed with their environment. Their modern architect and high ceiling is breathtaking. I can imagine that maybe on a rainy day, I will sit on the sofa and enjoy the scenery while sipping a hot black coffee and eat some cakes or desserts from Huize van Wely






I went to Huize Van Wely on the mid of December, so Christmas is on the air. They decorate their environment with Christmas decoration. If you find something that you like, you can bought it at Living at The Papilion above, an exclusive lifestyle concept store that offers a comprehensive collection of items, such as candles from Baobab Collection, tableware from Secondome, Seletti, iconic italian homeware by Fornasetti, candles and fragrances from Diptyque and many others.






When I came to Huize Van Wely, they were having Japanese buffet theme. You can find Wafu Salad, avocado & beans salad, Chicken with carrot and string beans, rice salad, Assorted Agemono, Soba Noodles, niku tofu, happo sai, chizenni, saikyo yaki with spinach, and many more.

Chef Takahashi Hideaki is the one behind this bistro dishes. You can see his attention to details by looking at his presentation skills. He often to go to the buffet table to monitoring the aesthetics of the dish. 





One thing that I admire the most, Huize Van Wely give us a complimentary bun, fresh from the oven. You have to eat it while it still warm. I really like their texture, it is so fluffy inside with a little crisp on the outside. My favorite is the white bun!








With IDR 250,000 (Nett), you can taste a very indulging buffet with fresh ingredients, wonderful job of cooking and mouth drooling presentation. You have to try their salmon with spinach, I am craving for this one!



The most interesting part from Huize van Wely, is their assorted desserts. Indeed, not all the desserts were include in all you can eat buffet, but you still can taste their wonderful taste cakes and choux. I feel so blessed when I have got the opportunity to taste them all. Every mini cakes was made with perfection, not just the presentation but the taste also. The most delicious dessert that really fit with my appetite is their caramel eclair. It has wonderful textures, and the sweetness is not overwhelming. 






For the drink, I ordered Lychee Ice Tea. The most favorable tea with a hint of lychee sweetness and fruits. This drink accompanying me during that day, so delicious and refreshing.

I already told you above, that Huize Van Wely is the most famous patisserie from Dutch that offers hand-made chocolates, bonbons, truffles, pastries, cakes, sweet and savory biscuits and ice cream. Luckily I have got the opportunity to taste their most famous chocolate bonbon and pralines. To tell you the truth... It was heavenly delicious. Indeed they were a little bit pricey but I think its worthy, Because I know that each and every bonbons, truffle, pralines etc was made with perfection from dutch.

I really enjoy my lunch at Huize van Wely, I will obviously come back here for sure to pleasure myself with their indulgence.
