Talk about a wonderful place to have a wonderful dish, AW Kitchen serves up an adventure that everyone can enjoy. Just like the Omakase luncheon last month that they conduct to celebrate their grand opening. Located on the 2nd floor of Plaza Indonesia, AW Kitchen is a perfect place for a gathering with friends or family. This Japanese-Italian restaurant serves Italian food with Japanese touch ingredients.

They have opened their second outlet with a different twist of environment and decoration. When the first outlet looks very masculine, the second outlet has more touch on a feminine side.

The outlet looks brighter and more spacious; warmer and suaver than the first one in Plaza Senayan with open kitchen and bar. But you still can see the similar interior elements. For your information, this restaurant can accommodate up to 140 seats and also has a room that can be used for more private event.

One thing that really catch my eyes is their signature tableware. It is their beautiful and elegant glass that was made from the bottom of the wine bottle.

To celebrate the grand opening, AW Kitchen held an Omakase Luncheon. Actually, Omakase (お任せ) is a Japanese phrase that means "I'll leave it up to you". It is the Japanese tradition of letting a chef choose your order and gives the customer a memorable dining experience.

Amuse Bouche - Beetroot Expresso Soup

Amuse Bouche is a beetroot soup that served in espresso glass. I thought that I am going to find a thick and bold earthy flavor when i sipped the soup. But surprisingly, the earthy flavor was not overwhelming like I have thought. I am so astonished how Chef Akira Watanabe's prominence to refine the unpleasant and bitterness of beetroot. This velvety soup has a beautiful sensation with sweet aftertaste in your mouth, such a wonderful dish to start our culinary journey on AW Kitchen.

Chu-Toro Tuna & Red Snapper Carpaccio

Carpaccio is an Italian appetizer dish of raw meat or fish that sliced or pounded very thin. Chūtoro (中とろ) is the name for medium fatty tuna that usually found near the skin on the back and belly.

The carpaccio was served beautifully on a plate along with dill and mint leaves, edible flowers, ikura (salmon roe) and wasabi-mayo sauce. I thought that I am gonna taste strong wasabi taste, but surprisingly this carpaccio is soft and delicate.

Chef Akira Watanabe's carpaccio not only look rich, but taste rich as well.  The beautiful fragrant from the dill really enliven the dish. Not only that, the tuna and red snapper were complimented beautifully with the minty taste and mild indulging mayo. But not only that, your palate will be cleansed mesmerised with the soft hint of wasabi.

Hokkaido crab with ikasumi spaghettini tomato sauce

Ikasumi means suid's ink (so that explained why the spaghettini has dark color), while spaghettini is a thinner form of spaghetti. It was served along with the Hokkaido crab meat and tomato sauce.

I really love the idea to combined the sweet hokkaido crab meat with sour tomato sauce and savory spaghettini. The combination really put a fine-tune of orchestra in my mouth.

Wagyu tenderloin wrapped in baked potato & truffle oil

Chef Akira Watanabe really proficient to make bold and strong ingredients into a soft and not overpowering the dishes. Everything that he placed on the plate really complements each other. Just like the leaves that pressed between the thin sliced potato give some aromas to the dish. The asparagus adds some crunchiness and the red wine sauce gives some acidity and freshness into the dish. Such a mesmerizing dish from AW Kitchen.

Lychee Mousse

The Lychee mouse was served along with meringue, passionfruit sorbet and fresh fruits. I always love the idea to put an end my culinary journey with something refreshing, just like this dessert. Really love the collaboration of the tropical fruit like lychee and the passionfruit. Beautiful!

Overall, I really enjoy the well-prepared and satisfying dishes from AW Kitchen. There will be many reasons for me to go to this restaurant again and again.

Have a great day and Godspeed!
