Look a little closer at Grand Hyatt Jakarta and you will find that they have a lot of delicacies to offer. On the same floor with C's Steak & Seafood, there is one of the most popular Japanese restaurant in Jakarta named Sumire.

From the outside, Sumire looks small and quite hidden. But once you stepped into their outlet, you will be greeted with a spacious and warm Japanese Country style house. You can see the chefs expertly prepare your dishes at the Sushi Bar, Teppanyaki Counters, Tempura or Kushiage Counter. Not only that, if you want your dining experience is a little bit private, Sumire offers you four private tatami rooms and four private dining rooms that available for your meeting or business dinner.

Well, Sumire offers premium-grade sushi and sashimi, seasonal specialities and traditional Japanese favourites with freshly flown ingredient from Japan.  A selection of sake is also available. If you want to take a peek at their menu, you can see it HERE

Steamed Egg Custard

Sometimes, even for a cup of chawanmushi can be overwhelming. But not Sumire's chawanmushi, it has elegant flavor and scent. It has velvety texture, and beautiful combination of sweet and savory taste. This light and warming dish will be a delightful cup to start our culinary journey at Sumire.


One thing for sure, Sumire generously give us a lot of Tobiko. This freshly cut vegetables give us aa fresh and wonderful textures. I really love the beautiful scent from the sesame dressing. It has a beautiful and indulging scent that enliven our tastebuds. It was seasoned wise and humbly served on the small bowl. But after a bite, you will be awe with the richness of this dish.

White fish, tuna, yellow tail, salmon, sweet shrimp, shellfish, octopus

Sashimi hana means Sashimi "Flower". So, when I hear it for the first time, I am imagining about a colorful and beautiful sashimi platter, and when it was served on the table, YUP! it was beautiful and really indulging my eyes.

For me, the easiest way to know if this sahimi was from the 1st grade quality is from the tuna. For a top grade tuna, you will find a moist and beautiful dark red meat. Do not compare this tuna with a spongy and tasteless tuna meat that you often meet in common Japanese restaurants in Indonesia. It has beautiful texture and taste. Once you have noticed the difference, you will nodded and agreed with me that this Sashimi was made from the best ingredients.

All of the dish scream for their unique characteristic. When I eat this Sashimi Hana, I am being playful try to differentiate all the ingredients. I can find that beside the color, each ingredients has a bold difference of textures. after that, try to taste their peculiar taste.

CANO ROLL | IDR 135,000

From the ingredients above, you will noticed that this Cano Roll has a very rich textures. Not only that, this sushi roll also has a beautiful mixture of taste. Sweet, savory and sour combined beautifully and really tickled your taste buds. Indeed, I rather have a classic and authentic sushi if I went to Japanese restaurant, but I do not mind if I was served with this  beautiful fushion sushi roll.

Once you put this tenmon roll into your mouth, you will be noticed that sweet, sour and savory are having a party in your mouth. The best part is? you are invited! The crispiness of prawn tempura really enrich this dish. the sweetness of kani stick and the smokey taste rom the salmon really complement the dish. If you want to explore the beautiful delicacies of fushion sushi, you better try this tenmon roll.


I love the beef tenderloin!!! Favourite! Yup, fix, prefer the tenderloin than the others. But, they were all delicious. But the beef tenderloin was so juicy and tender, it’s like melt in your mouth. I love the sauce too. Different kind of sauces but end up with one result: fantastic!

Cod Fish with teriyaki sauce

This is one of the MUST TRY DISH in Sumire. This grilled Cod fish was perfectly cooked. The fish was so moist and delicious. Complemented with sweet and indulging teriyaki sauce, really make this cod fish become irresistible. If you a savory lover, you can try the cod fish with Miso sauce.


Actually, I am allergic to shellfish. So that is why if I eat shell fish, it must be Good! Just like this Prawn teppanyaki It has buttery fragrant and indulging sweet. I ate half of that dish. Somehow, I often to find an overcooked prawn, but not in Sumire. The prawn has its juiciness and wonderful texture. Such a wonderful dish.


There are 3 kinds of mushroom that wrapped with the juicy and flavorful beef. The mushrooms adds some sweetness to the beef and really enriched the textures. This is also one of my favorite dish in Sumire. So do not forget to order this while you were there.

Mochi, fruits, black sesame ice cream, ogura

The thick and full of fragrant kuro goma ice cream is the star in this dessert. I never thought that black sesame ice cream is really complementing the ogura and so does the mochi and fruits. I also adore the textures; The chewy mochi really enriched the texture and makes this dessert become more fun and more indulging. This is the MUST TRY DESSERT that you have to try while you were in Sumire.

Overall, my culinary journey to Sumire at Grand Hyatt Jakarta is quite mesmerizing. I cannot forget the joy and laughter that we have shared at Sumire. Well, if you want to go to Sumire, reservations are highly recommended.
