To Celebrates the holy month of Ramadhan, Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta will transport SATOO Garden's guests to the Middle East. They conjure this semi-outdoor, hip and chic place into an enchanting ambiance of the Ramadan tent.

Located at the pool side of Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta, SATOO Garden is a promising place for you to have a mesmerizing night with your beloved one, colleagues, and your friends. Colorful lanterns, elegant decoration and exotic tapestry were beautifully decorate this SATOO Garden. You can feel the otherworldly vibe of Middle East once you stepped into this place.




I really amazed with SATOO Garden. For me, Satoo Garden is Shangri-La Jakartas' blank canvas. SATOO Garden is the place where Shangri-La can do their magic to conjure this place into something else. So, It is always exciting to wait what kind of experiences that Shangri-La will offer. 

Well, on this Ramadhan, guests can relax and unwind over various flavours of Shisha and an assortment of delectable Middle Eastern snacks like Shish Taouk, Pistachio Baklava to Kebab Halabi. The colourful element of the Middle East will be completed with the sound of alluring Arabic instrument played throughout the evening.

FUN FACT

Well, Sisha as known as hookah is a single or multi-stemmed instrument for vaporizing and smoking flavored tobacco called shisha in which the vapor or smoke is passed through a water basin-often glass-based-before inhalation.

In the Middle East and Arab world, people smoke shisha as part of their culture and traditions. Social smoking is done with a single or double hose shisha, and sometimes even triple or quadruple hose hookahs in the forms of parties or small get-togethers are used. When the smoker is finished, either the hose is placed back on the table signifying that it is available, or it is handed from one user to the next, folded back on itself so that the mouthpiece is not pointing at the recipient.

Most cafés in the Middle East offer shishas. Cafés are widespread and are amongst the chief social gathering places in the Arab world (akin to public houses in Britain).



This how Shisha works:
- 1 -
The Glass Base or the Jar at the bottom of the shisha is filled with water sufficient to submerge a few centimeters of the body tube, which is sealed tightly to it. 

- 2 -
Tobacco-free molasses are placed inside the Clay Bowl at the top of the hookah. 

- 3 -
The clay bowl is covered with perforated tin foil or a metal screen and coal placed on top. The foil or screen separates the coal and the tobacco, which minimizes inhalation of coal ash with the smoke and reduces the temperature the tobacco is exposed to, in order to prevent burning the tobacco directly.

- 4 -
When one inhales through the hose, air is pulled through the charcoal and into the bowl holding the tobacco. The hot air, heated by the charcoal vaporizes the tobacco without burning it. The vapor is passed down through the body tube that extends into the water in the jar. It bubbles up through the water, losing heat, and fills the top part of the jar, to which the hose is attached. When a smoker inhales from the hose, smoke passes into the lungs, and the change in pressure in the jar pulls more air through the charcoal, continuing the process.


Hygiene is the most important parts for some people. Well, not to worry, you can asked the waiter to give you athe new mouthtip for you. So you can freely enjoy your shisha with your own mouthtip that can be connected to the end of the mouthpiece.

What is Middle East without Mezze? Well, Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta served this selection of small dishes to accompany your shisha as a snack or as appetizers before the main dish. This Pita Bread was served along with Hummus, Tabouleh, Mutabbal and Labneh.

You can insert the ingredients into the pita Bread and then eat it. Actually, I really love every component of SATOO Garden's mezze. They were seasoned beautiful and taste wonderful. I cannot stop eating the pita bread using the hummus, Tabouleh and Labneh. They were complementing each other and enrich the flavor also the textures.


Kebab Halabi Wraps | IDR 175,000++ 
Lamb skewer wraps with onion salad, garlic yoghurt dipping 

I really fall in love with the lamb skewer wraps. It has smokey taste and fragrant that combined beautifully with the crunchiness of fresh salad. It was served with onion salad and yoghurt dipping. The sweet onion salad and the sour yoghurt dipping add some flavor to the kebab. Really love the full savory-sweet-sour combination on this plate. Salute!

  

Shish Taouk | IDR 160,000++ 
Grilled spicy chicken skewers with hummus dipping and pita bread 

You can eat this Shish Taouk straight from the skewer or eat it like kebab. you can separate the chicken meat and the paprika from the skewer and put it into the pita bread along with the hummus. It taste quite delicious! the juicy chicken collaborate beautifully with the hummus. This Shish Taouk has beautiful taste and textures.



Indian Samosa* | IDR 120,000++ 
Deep fried vegetable samosa with mint and mango chutney 

Actually for the samosa, it taste quite OK. With nice crunchy texture from the exterior and soft from the inside really give you a rich textures. But I really adore the mint chutney! It adds strong and mesmerizing sensation on your mouth. It taste so fresh and really a wonderful eye-opener. Indeed, it was a little bit to thick, but it taste delicious.



Pistachio Baklava a la Jakarta | IDR 100,000++ 
Layers of phyllo pastry with pistachio 

This symbolic dessert from middle east is something that you mustn't ignored. It has a wonderful honey taste and sweetness along with the crunchy sweet-savory pistachio. I really love the golden brown exterior that brings contrast with the ground pistachio. A must try item on SATOO Garden!

You can enjoy your shisha with local cuisines that brings you a nostalgic flavor of Indonesian sweets. Sometimes, it is quite nice to combine the Middle Eastern vibrance with Local cuisine. It can bring cheerfulness and nostalgic sensation on your middle east journey at SATOO Garden.
