Nowadays, you can find a lot of catering services in Jakarta, so every caterer were vying to be in the forefront. But my attention was drawn to one of the most unique and proficient caterer named Gaia Catering Co.

Their head office, kitchen and marketing office was located at Jl. K. H. Achmad Dahlan 47. I am very grateful that I was invited to their "Gaia Show Plate – Food Blogger Partners".

Omar Djorghi as PT. Gaia Mahaga Buana's Marketing Communication Head greet us with very friendly and zestful. He Introduce us with Gaia Catering Co that often to catered a lot of events, from Baby shower, birthday, wedding, through business meeting and many others. What makes Gaia Catering Co different from the others? Well, Gaia Catering Co often to say "Delight your sight & palate", that is why they were not only concerned about the taste, but also the presentation.

Omar asked us to go to their meeting room, and I was quite surprised when I see their beautiful presentation buffet on that room. They already decorated the meeting table into a beautiful buffet table.

- CANAPES  -
-------------------------------------

Prawn Mango Salsa

Because canape is a small, prepared and usually decorative food, held in the fingers and often eaten in one bite. This Prawn Mango Salsa can be eaten in one bite. You can spooned the mango salsa into your mouth with the prawn.

I really love the Idea about seafood that combined with tropical fruit. The sweet sourness of tropical fruit compliment the unique taste of the shrimp. This Prawn Mango Salsa scream for its freshness. paired with a beautiful seasoned mango salsa makes this simple dish become a beautiful and delicious dish.

Caprese Stick

A skewered tomatoes, basil and mozzarella cheese, served with their delicious pesto sauce that will blow your mind. I really love their sweet fresh tomatoes that combined beautifully with mozzarella cheese and perfected with the aroma from the pesto. A simple dish that will make your jaw drop.

Tomato Gazpacho

Gazpacho is usually a tomato-based vegetable soup, traditionally served cold, originating in the southern Spanish region of Andalusia. Gazpacho is widely consumed in Spanish cuisine, as well as in neighboring Portugal, where it is known as gaspacho. Gazpacho is mostly consumed during the summer months, due to its refreshing qualities and cold serving temperature.

Well, to tell you the truth, for a tropical climate like Indonesia, this tomato gazpacho is really fit to refreshing your body. It has a strong sourness and heat to make your eyes pop. So refreshing and perfect to be served to lifting up your appetite or as an eye opener.

Salmon Slider

A slider is a small sandwich, typically around 3 in (7.6 cm) across, served in a bun. The term primarily refers to small hamburgers, but can also cover any small sandwich served on a slider roll.

Fun Fact: The term, when used in reference to a small hamburger, refers to a small hamburger patty served on a small bun. According to the earliest citations, the name may have originated aboard U.S. Navy ships, due to the way greasy burgers slid across the galley grill while the ship pitched and rolled. White Castle trademarked the spelling variant "Slyder" and used it between 1985 and 2009.

Sliders can be served as an hors d'oeuvre/canape/appetizer, amuse-bouche, or entrée.

One thing for sure, I really love the idea to make a mini version of burgers. You can eat it whole in one bite. you can taste a diverse kind of flavours and textures in one bite. For your information, Gaia Catering Co make all the dish from scratch. So, you can trust the ingredients to them.

Prawn Thermidore Vol Au Vent

A vol-au-vent (French for "windblown" to describe its lightness) is a small hollow case of puff pastry.

Vols-au-vent are typically made by cutting two circles in rolled out puff pastry, cutting a hole in one of them, then stacking the ring-shaped piece on top of the disc-shaped piece. This pastry is usually found filled with savory ingredients, but can also have a sweet filling.

I really like the crunchy exterior and the moist interior of this dish. The pastry is so light and not overwhelming. Beautifully attached with the creamy paste of shrimp really makes me mouthwatering by just remembering its taste.

- DESSERTS -

Mini Fruit Pavlova

Pavlova is a meringue-based dessert named after the Russian ballet dancer Anna Pavlova. It is a meringue dessert with a crisp crust and soft, light inside.

Fun Fact: The dessert is believed to have been created in honour of the dancer either during or after one of her tours to Australia and New Zealand in the 1920s. The nationality of its creator has been a source of argument between the two nations for many years, but formal research indicates New Zealand as the source.

The dessert is a popular dish and an important part of the national cuisine of both countries, and with its simple recipe, is frequently served during celebratory and holiday meals. It is a dessert most identified with the summer time, but is eaten all year round in many Australian and New Zealand homes.

I really love the crisp and the melt in your mouth texture meringue. topped with fresh fruits adds some texture and flavour on this pavlova. For me, this pavlova is a little bit too sweet, but for a sweet tooth, you will be indulge by its sweetness and beautiful textures.

Key Lime Pie

Another an eye opener dessert canape from Gaia Catering Co. Key lime pie is an American dessert made of Key lime juice, egg yolks, and sweetened condensed milk in a pie crust. The traditional Conch version uses the egg whites to make a meringue topping.

Fun Fact: The dish is named after the small Key limes (Citrus aurantifolia 'Swingle') that are naturalized throughout the Florida Keys. While their thorns make them less tractable, and their thin, yellow rinds more perishable, Key limes are more tart and aromatic than the common Persian limes seen year round in most U.S. grocery stores. During mixing, a reaction between the condensed milk and the acidic lime juice occurs which causes the filling to thicken on its own without requiring baking. Many early recipes for Key lime pie did not require the cook to bake the pie, relying on this chemical reaction (called thickening) to produce the proper consistency of the filling. Today, in the interest of safety due to consumption of raw eggs, pies of this nature are usually baked for a short time. The baking also thickens the texture more than the reaction alone.

This Key Lime Pie is so refreshing. I do admire how they manage the proportion between its base and filling. So perfect and really indulging. You can taste lime bold sourness from the filing. You will also be indulged by the diverse texture, moist from the filling and crunchy texture from its base.

Strawberry Pannacotta

OK, I do admit my most favorite dessert beside Ice Cream is Panna Cotta. I really love the unique texture from the panna cotta and their not overwhelming sweetness. Too bad, when I went to Gaia Show Plate - Food Blogger Partners, the texture is too dense.

Omar said that usually he won't serve the dish if they find out that the dish wasn't perfect. Gaia Catering Co will reproduce and change it with the perfect one. before the food tasting, Omar already tell us that it was too dense so we should judge it only from its taste.

Actually, I really love the taste. the sweetness and the sourness blend perfectly and bring a beautiful harmony into your taste. Yeah, but for panna cotta, everything is about the texture. I rather called it as pudding instead of panna cotta.

Pecan Tartlet Baileys Caramel Whip

You can taste the smooth and indulging caramel taste combined with unique taste and aroma from pecan. Gaia Catering Co give a little surprise on this dish. Yup, they add a hint of baileys on this pecan tartlets. Get ready to be pampered with its deliciousness!

New England Clam Chowder

This warm clam chowder was served with baked shredded cheese. I really like the clam chowder itself. It has a delicious taste and wonderful density. The richness of the taste is really amazed me. But for me, the crunchy cheese cracker is a little bit too savory, so I rather eat the clam chowder and the cheese cracker separately.

Ayam Bakar Permata

You will be amazed with this dish, not just because for its beautiful texture, but it also has a wonderful taste. You will be indulged with its honey sweet and chilli hot from the sauce, that blend and absobed beautifully to the chicken perfectly. It will make you scream for more.

Baked Black Cod Miso Glaze

For me, my favorite dish that day was this baked black cod miso glaze. I really love the touch of Japanese accent that Gaia combine with this dish. Yup, they add Miso paste on the top of the black cod. For some people, the miso paste is a little bit overwhelming, that is why to eat this dish, you need rice to neutralize its savoriness.

Green Tea With Mint

On the beverage list, we were served with this thirst-quenching drink. On this drink, you can taste a cold sensation from the mint leaves and refreshing sensation from the lemongrass jelly. What an indulging drink!
